Demand for High Court in Vizag

Visakhapatnam Bar Association is chalking out support to fulfill their demand of getting high court
Visakhapatnam: Advocates of Vizag and surrounding districts would very soon chalk out an action plan to exert pressure on both state and union government for establishment of High Court in Vizag as recommended by Sivaramakrishnan Committee.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday after a meeting with advocates of various districts, president of Visakhapatnam Bar Association Janapareddy Prithvi Raj said the demand to set up HC in Vizag was first made in 1956 after Andhra Pradesh was separated from Madras. But, due to lack of strong leadership in Vizag, the High Court was shifted to Hyderabad from Guntur. “Now, we decided to garner support of various sections, including political parties to revive an agitation for HC in Vizag,” he added.
“We are chalking out plans to revive our agitation for establishment of High Court in Vizag and mobilise support of lawyers of surrounding districts for getting the long-pending demand conceded,” said M.S. Madhav and others of the VBA. The newly elected body of VBA will be organising a meeting at VBA on September 4 to announce the future course of action for the justified and long-pending demand of setting up HC in Vizag.
