Committee identifies 67K state-cadre posts vacent in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Hyderabad: The Centre-appointed Kamalnathan Committee for distribution of state government employees has identified 67,073 state-cadre posts in various departments that need to be distributed between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Of them, 20,630 posts are vacant, which will also be distributed to enable both the states to fill them later.
The Committee has gathered data of the total posts that were available in the united state. The total posts were pegged at 11.78 lakh, of which 2.6 lakh were vacant. Of them, Telangana will get 4.97 lakh and Andhra Pradesh will get 6.80 lakh posts. The Committee has asked the employees to lodge objections, if any, by September 10 on the number of posts identified for distribution. Employees can file their objections with their respective heads of departments (HoDs).
The Committee will take up distribution of only 67,073 state cadre posts by giving “options” to employees to choose their state as specified under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. The remaining 11 lakh posts at zonal, multi-zonal and district levels will not be touched and the existing employees will be allowed to continue in their existing places.
In Telangana, out of a total of 4,97,882 sanctioned posts, 98,016 are vacant, while in AP, out of 6,80,516 posts, 1,38,747 are vacant. The Committee has held a series of meetings with chief secretaries and employees associations of both the states to finalise the guidelines for distribution of employees.
The final guidelines are expected to be referred to the Centre for approval, based on which the Committee will make final allotment to both the states. However, Telangana employees are demanding that the Committee take up distribution of employees even at zonal, multi-zonal and district levels. Their contention is that several AP employees working in Telangana at these levels want to work in their own state while some Telangana employees working in AP want to come back to TS, and it is not fair to deny them an opportunity to choose their state like in the case of state cadre staff.
