Capital class for farmers

Land will be acquired if farmers don’t co-operate
Hyderabad:Planning for the new capital is gathering steam with the AP governments’ decision to conduct workshops for the farmers regarding land pooling in the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri urban development area.
The committee formed for land acquisition, comprising ministers and MLAs, will convince the farmers regarding land pooling. Minister for welfare Ravela Kishore said, “The committee and officials will be holding workshops in all villages and mandal headquarters in the proposed capital region.
They will inform farmers about the benefits of land pooling. A developer will be selected, who will be handed over the pooled land to develop it. The developer will also be given a share to construct buildings.”
The committee will inform farmers that land acquisition will be done, if they don’t come forward for the pooling. “At least 50,000 acres of land shall be pooled,” said Mr Kishore.
It has also been decided to spare the fertile lands of the Krishna and Guntur delta area from construction, though they will be part of the capital region.
TD MLA Butchaiah Chowdary said, “Buildings for the capital will be set up only upland of VGTM within the Outer Ring Road on both sides of the river. Initially, half of the ORR will be constructed on the upland area and later the other half will be finished.
Mandals like Tadikonda, Tadepalli, Tullur and Amaravati have wetlands while Ibrahimpatnam, Kanchikacharla, Vijayawada Rural and Vijayawada Urban are dryland areas. So, there will be no disturbance to paddy cultivation. A six-lane road will come up on both sides of the Krishna river banks.”
Vijayawada MLA Gadde Rammohan, said, “Forty to 50 storied high-rise buildings will come up along the Krishna River on both sides.” He added, “The CM is for decentralised development, but not for a decentralised capital. The administrative capital consisting of all head offices apart from the Secretariat and all prime buildings will be in VGTM UDA region.”
