Hyderabad: A passenger concealed three kg gold biscuits in the toilet of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport minutes before he was arrested by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials on Wednesday.
The officials recovered the biscuits which were kept in the flush tank in the men’s toilet. Based on intelligence inputs, DRI officials had set a trap for the passenger, who was arriving on a flight from Oman.
“The passenger, who was carrying three gold biscuits each weighing a kg, went into the toilet and hid the biscuits in the flush tank.” said a source.
However, the officials arrested the man. DRI officials are now verifying the modus operandi of the smuggler.
“The officials are verifying if the passenger was working with someone else who was supposed to collect the gold from the toilet later or if he was trying to take the gold later,” sources said.
