Telangana MLAs can now get their choice Personal Assistants
MLAs have to write to the concerned district collector to appoint PAs of their choice
Hyderabad: MLAs in Telangana will now get a personal assistant of his choice to do secretarial work. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has approved the request for personal assistants to all 119 MLAs to attend to work related to their respective constituency.
Chief Minister also relaxed the rules for MLAs to appoint not just government employees on deputation but also retired government employees, if they so desire. The MLAs have to write to the concerned district collector to appoint PAs of their choice up to the cadre of senior assistant working in government departments including the departments not under the district administration like jails, colleges and other departments and institutions besides local bodies, public undertakings and corporations. In exceptional cases, the persons working in other districts may also be appointed if the MLA so insists.
The PAs will get fixed travel advance of Rs 1000 per month. In cases, where the MLA insists on appointment of a retired government employee as his PA, such officials will get consolidated remuneration of Rs 6000 per month.
"The appointment of a PA will be terminated/reverted to his parent department whenever the MLA concerned vacates his office or at any time if the services of the PA are no longer required by the concerned MLA," according to Chief Secretary, Dr Rajeev Sharma, who issued orders in this regard.
The expenditure towards salaries and fixed TA of the employees so appointed as PA to the MLA would be charged to the establishment from which he has been drafted. In case of retired employees the district collector would be responsible.
