E-centres will be great boon for students
The state IT department plans to use the consumer service centres (CSC) for e-learning
Chennai:Students who are forced to pay huge fees to take up online tests at private computer centres for various certification exams can now heave a sigh of relief. The state IT department plans to use the consumer service centres (CSC) for e-learning also by which a student would be able to take certification exams with a minimum browsing charge.
A senior IT department official said that various state government departments had offered a total of 300 services online, like birth certificate, EB bill payment and tax payment, which could be accessed in state government’s consumer service centres across the state.
“We are planning to expand the services provided at CSCs by bringing in new facilities like tele-education. Students will soon be able to study online courses from these CSCs and can also take up entrance tests for private universities. Those who prepare for computer certification tests too can take up tests from these centres by paying the fee for browsing the internet,” the official said.
The state government would soon tie up with service providers to conduct these tests from the CSCs. The official also pointed out that within two years the state government would open 15,000 CSCs across the state to make Tamil Nadu, a digital savvy state.
