Visakhapatnam: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) demanded that Visakhapatnam should be made railway zonal head quarter. The party activists staged a dharna in front of Divisional railway manager office at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.
Party Visakha city wing secretary B. Gangarao demanded that Telugu Desam and BJP should fulfil their pre-poll promises and make Vizag a zonal centre. He alleged that both parties were making only fake promises.
Vizag is the important city in Andhra Pradesh which is providing huge revenue to the railways. And the city is eligible to become a zonal headquarter. If the zonal headquarter is established here, the city would play a key role in the development of north Andhra.
He alleged that the MPs and MLAs are talking about airports and air services which are useful for them. But they are not at all responding to the public needs, he added.
