CAT gives a week to Telangana and AP to file affidavits on IPS officers allotment
Counsels representing both the states jointly urged the bench for granting of time
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal on Tuesday granted a week to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state governments to place their version before it on petition challenging the provisional allocation of IPS officers among both the states.
The counsels representing both the states jointly urged the bench for granting of time to place their version and if they failed to file their affidavits the tribunal can impose the penalty. The bench was hearing a plea by senior IPS officers S A Huda and T P Das contending that the provisional allocation notification as illegal.
Mohammad Shafiquzzaman, counsel for the petitioners opposed the request of state governments to grant the time and said that they challenged the center’s notification and the states are only formal parties.
He said when the matter was heard several times in the last three months, the two states never raised their voice and now they are seeking time in the last minute.
However, the bench said it would give a week’s time to the states to file their counters and posted the case to next week.
