24x7 power to be a reality
VIJAYAWADA: The Central government has chosen AP for is 24 hour power pilot project.
Officials of APSPDCL and APEPDCL are busy making arrangements to ensure continuous power supply from October 2.
The Chief Engineer of Vijayawada zone confirmed that the arrangements for 24x7 power supply is almost complete.
“We are taking all measures to keep the supply uninterrupted power. We will have a demand of around 6,300 MW on peak days. We are now able to supply around 5,700 MW. The demand will depend on the weather conditions as well as agriculture needs in the state. The power station at Paravada in Vizag will supply 1,024 MW from March. We have called for tenders for installation of a 500 MW solar power plant in the state. Proposals for another 1,000 MW are on the anvil. The Solapur-Pune-Raichur transmission line is now ready, making it easier to get electricity from other states.”
The CE advised the people to save as much power as possible. “We encourage people to use LEDs and ISI certified motors to save power. We are also trying to decrease transmission losses,” he said.
