Men with handsome faces have lower sperm quality
Males may generally overestimate the attractiveness of other men to females
Washington: A new study has revealed that men with a handsome face have a lower quality of semen.
According to the study, increased levels of testosterone have been demonstrated to impair sperm production and the finding may indicate a trade-off between investments in secondary sexual signaling (i.e. facial masculinity) and fertility.
The study also revealed that males estimated facial images generally more attractive than females did, suggesting that males may generally overestimate the attractiveness of other men to females.
The study was published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology study.
