Remastering the biggies
Re-releasing a game on new consoles gives publishers extra cash
Hyderabad:This generation isn’t even a year old and the list of games that are being remastered for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One continues to grow. From first party exclusives like The Last of Us: Remastered and Halo: Master Chief Collection, to games that did not meet sales expectations like Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs; re-releasing a game on new consoles gives publishers extra cash which can then be used to fund future projects.
Volition announced such a version of Saints Row 4 at PAX Prime, 2014. Saints Row 4: Re-Elected will include all 4 DLCs and will release on January 27, 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They also took this opportunity to reveal a standalone expansion pack to Saints Row 4 called Gat Out of Hell.
In this add-on, the President is being forced to marry Satan’s daughter so Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kensington journey to New Hades in order to save from him the demons of hell. New Hades includes five islands and will allow players to take advantage of a new feature called Angelic Flight.
Super powers from the main game also make a return and will be heavily influenced by the game’s theme and setting. Gat Out of Hell will be available on January 27, 2015 for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4. This standalone expansion will be included in Saints Row 4: Re-Elected.
Almost every game which came out in the final years of the seventh generation of consoles is now getting re-released for the eighth generation. Owners of Xbox One or the PlayStation 4 will have to settle for older games they might have already played for a little while longer, as new titles keep getting delayed one after the other.
