Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation prepares for Vizag Metro Project
Visakhapatnam: The state government had announced members of the technical committee that finalises bids for Vizag Metro Rail Project and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is preparing to organise the first meeting of the committee for hearing plans of six bidders who submitted their bids. Chief engineer of the GVMC has been appointed as member convener of the committee. It may be recalled that six experienced organisations have submitted their bids for preparing the detailed project report of Metro Rail Project. RITES, a Government of India enterprise, Systra group, SREI infrastructure finance Limited, Hyderabad-based Aarvee Associates, Delhi-based LEA Associates South Asia Private Limited and US-based AECOM Consultants have filed their bids for preparing the detailed project report.
GVMC commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana said the technical committee would scrutinise the bids and select the eligible through technical presentations. Finally, they would consider financial bids, he added. He also said former Delhi Metro chief E. Sreedharan will guide the process. According to officials, both technical and financial bids have equal weight and they would finalise the consultant on recommendations of the committee appointed for the purpose.
Chief engineer cadre official from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), professor or head of the department (Planning) from School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Vijayawada, professor in urban transport from the CEPT University, Ahmedabad, PPP expert or any other member suggested by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, chief city planner, GVMC, chief urban planner, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and chief engineer of the GVMC act as member conveners.
