CBI Court dismisses Jagan Mohan Reddy's plea to visit Bengaluru
Hyderabad: The special court for CBI cases on Monday dismissed the petition filed by YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to visit Bengaluru. It agreed with the investigating agency’s argument that frequent visits would affect the trial in the case.
During the hearing a week ago, the counsel for CBI opposed the petition. Earlier, Mr Reddy had filed a petition to relax his bail conditions of not leaving Hyderabad and to allow him to visit Bengaluru. The court had posted the hearing to August 27 and asked CBI to file a counter. In its counter, the CBI pointed out that there was no mention of the time frame for the visit.
It asked the court to grant permission only when an appropriate time for the visit is mentioned by the petitioner. It raised objections to his frequent visits and absence during court hearing, which may affect the trial proceeding.
It also pointed out that one of the main conditions on which Mr Reddy was granted bail last September, was not leaving Hyderabad without prior permission. The special judge hearing the case reserved the order on Monday. The court agreed with the CBI’s argument and dismissed the petition.
