Hyderabad: The final allotment of All India Service (AIS) officers to both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states will be made by the Centre-appointed Prathyush Sinha Committee on Tuesday. The provisional allotment made by the committee on August 22 turned controversial with some IAS, IPS, IFS officers getting allotment to the state which they had not preferred. The committee had given time till August 29 to lodge objections if any on provisional allotment.
Though it is not binding on the committee to consider the ‘options’ given by the AIS officers to choose the state, the provisional allotment created a flutter with some officials getting their preferred state, while the same was denied to others. Both the state governments are seeking swapping of officials and it remains to be seen whether the committee allows it or not.
Chief secretaries of both the states I.Y.R. Krisnna Rao from AP and Dr Rajiv Sharma from TS will visit Delhi on Tuesday to finalise the allotment. AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu already wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting to re-allocate two IAS officers P.V. Ramesh and J.S.V. Prasad IPS officer T.S. Anuradha to AP who are currently allocated to Telangana.
The TS government is seeking allotment of GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar to Telangana who was allotted to Andhra Pradesh.
For swapping of officials, a no-objection certificate (NOC) has to be issued from the state government. For that reason, both the chief secretaries left for Delhi to issue NOCs on the spot.
The final allotment list will be referred to the Prime Minister for approval. After the PM’s approval, it will be notified by the Department of Personnel and Training granting state-cadre to the allotted officials.
