Visakhapatnam: Sex trade is becoming rampant through online in Vizag city. The recent online sex trade came under the scanner of the city police with the busting of a racket at the posh MVP Colony in the city. The growth of various sectors is also fueling hi-tech prostitution in Vizag and the online sites give the opportunity for flesh trade like any other business in the city. “We have found that there are several websites related to Vizag Escorts Service which gives the whereabouts of girls at various places in the city and interestingly educated girls from few settled families were entering the flesh trade to fund their lifestyles,” said a senior police officer.
There is some concrete information of unemployed young girls, particularly from West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and also parts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu falling prey to agents of “escort” organisations in the city, who lure them by offering a huge remuneration. Internet has created a new trend in which the dealing can be done without fear and all the booking and transactions were taking a place online, said G.V. Ramana, inspector of City Task Force police. “As of now we have busted two such online sex rackets in the city and investigation is on to bust some more gangs,” he added.
The organisers of the flesh trade also engaged some tech-savvy graduates in the city for creating websites in which they are posting the semi-nude images of the few girls to promote the trade on the virtual world. The modus operandi goes like this — first they lure online users to expose themselves in front of webcams and later the entire dealing can be done online and the organisers send the girl to either the customer’s flat or somewhere to evade police, said an ACP rank officer.
