Gangs try out new ideas to rob public
Hyderabad: Criminal gangs are coming up with new ideas to rob unsuspecting people.
There have been a couple of incidents in which the victims were targeted by ‘chilli powder’ gangs who sprinkle chilli powder to immobilise the victims before robbing them.
Now, the crooks have started robbing people by winning their trust posing as friends.
One such case was reported on Monday. Sandeep Kumar, 23, a resident of Chikkad-pally and a web designer had quit his job, and was searching for a new job.
On Monday, as Sandeep was walking towards the bus stop to visit a job consultancy, he was intercepted by a person who introduced himself as Surender Kumar.
“I have never seen him before. He came on a bike and introduced himself as a human resource professional working for a placement consultancy. He claimed that came to know I needed a job and promised one in a good company with a handsome salary,” Mr Sandeep said.
The crook took Sandeep on his bike and on the way stopped near a stationary store close to the Secunderabad Railway Station. He asked Sandeep to get some stationery.
“Before I went into the store, he asked for my smart phone and I handed it over to him. After a couple of minutes when I turned back, he was gone. I searched the surroundings in vain,” Mr Sandeep added.
He lodged a complaint with the Gopalpuram police. The cops have begun a hunt for the culprit.
