Actress sent to rescue home
Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police on Monday produced a national award winning actress who was held in a sex racket bust along with the racket’s organiser Anjaneyulu alias Balu in court. The court sent the actress to a rescue home in Saroornagar, and the organiser to judicial remand. He is now lodged at the Cherlapalli prison.
The actress who has portrayed lead roles in Bengali, Tamil and Telugu films was rescued from prostitution on Sunday. Balu, who claimed to be an assistant film director, was arrested for organising commercial sex.
A police team headed by additional DCP N. Koti Reddy conducted a decoy operation to nab them after an alert. The operation revealed that prostitution was going on in the hotel premises.
Police officials said the actress, who was earlier involved in similar activities, came to the city for a high profile customer and was lodged in the hotel by Balu. He used to collect up to Rs 1 lakh from high flying customers.
The actress came to the city a few days ago. “She used to come to the city to take part in events and film shoots, stay in hotels and took to prostitution,” said Mr N. Koti Reddy.
