PCC chief pumps up party men for bypoll
Ponnala Lakshmaiah have asked his men to step up campaigning for bypolls
Hyderabad: Telangana PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah has drawn an ambitious campaign plan for the Congress for the September 13 Medak bypoll by involving almost all leaders. “We are deputing the entire TPCC leadership across the state for the bypoll, we will find at least three leaders in each of the 765 villages in 30 mandals of the Medak Lok Sabha constituency for campa-igning,” Mr Lakshmaiah said.
On Sunday, Mr Lakshmaiah spoke to the Assembly segment-wise in-charges and asked them to step up campaigning from Monday. He told them to underscore the fact that the Congress was responsible for granting separate statehood and highlight failures of the TRS government and contrast it to their tall poll promises. “Farm loan waiver and power supply crisis these are two issues that are pinching the farming community. Medak being an agricultural district, if we highlight these issues, it will help the party make a comeback,” Mr Lakshmaiah said.
“We should explain to the people that it was because of Sonia Gandhi’s effort that Telangana state is now a reality; she did it intentionally despite knowing that the Congress might lose in Seeman-dhra. People should be told that the Congress was committed to Telangana statehood from the beginning,” Mr Lakshmaiah said.He also reminded the leaders to tell the electorate that Chief Mini-ster K. Chandrasekhar Rao did not visit the site of the train-bus collision in Medak constituency but instead visited Singapore.
The TRS government ordered lathicharge on farmers when they were agitating for better supply of power. “If we expose all these, we may have the advantage in the Medak by-poll,” Mr Lakshmaiah said.
