Andhra Pradesh to sell its share of buildings to raise fund
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government is considering selling its share in various corporation buildings to raise funds. Undivided AP had about 40 corporations, of which 15 had their own buildings. According to estimates, the RTC has property worth about Rs 16,000 property in Hyderabad. Corporations like APGenco, APTransco, AP State Finance Corporation and others have their own buildings.
The Telangana government can purchase Andhra Pradesh’s share in corporation buildings; the AP government has the right to sell its properties to any private party. A senior officer, who played a key role in the allotment of the government-owned buildings between the two states said the AP Government may sell its share after the properties are handed over.
He said the Andhra Pradesh government may locate its corporations in its own state instead of continuing at Hyderabad. He said it would take some time to take a final decision on selling the share of properties in corporation buildings.
However, Telangana officials have objected to handing the share of the Andhra Pradesh government, and claimed that all corporation buildings belong to the Telangana government as they are situated in Hyderabad. The Telangana government put forth the same argument in the case of the RTC properties as well.
However, Sheela Bhide, chairperson of a Centre-appointed committee, said that according to the state Bifurcation Act, the Andhra Pradesh government has a share in all corporation buildings.
