Telangana CM KCR firm on Hyderabad Metro shift, grants Rs 400 crore
CM took this decision to save heritage structures in the city
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is willing to shell out Rs 400 crore to be incurred on account of realignment of the Hyderabad Metro Rail, to save heritage areas in Sultan Bazaar, Badi Chowdi and Moazzam Jahi market, besides Telangana Martyrs Memorial and the Legislative Assembly building.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who is firm on his decision to realign the metro to save heritage structures in the city, asked HMR officials to negotiate with builder L&T to pay for another Rs 100 crore for realignment.
Officials decided to demolish 20 metro pillars erected between Ravindra Bharati and Public Gardens according to the earlier alignment. Chief secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma discussed the realignment issue with HMR
