Hyderabad: A law university like Nalsar will soon to be set up near Vijayawada-Guntur. Though the Sivaramakrishnan Committee’s report is against concentration of all the important government offices and buildings at one place, particularly the capital region, the state government is favouring Vijayawada-Guntur region for even establishment of Indian School of Business (ISB).
The government has asked the district collectors of Krishna and Guntur to identify land to set up the two prestigious institutes at the earliest. Chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao also held a review meeting a couple of days ago and directed the officials to speed up the process of establishing the two institutes.
It may be mentioned that Nalsar is spread over 50-acre campus near Shamirpet and is one of the premier law institutes. The AP government decided to establish a institute like Nalsar in the light of recommendations made by the then committee of judges headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice A.M. Ahmadi that there should be a national law school type of college in each state. The AP government in July 2014 issued orders (Go Ms 65) giving permission for Nalsar type law university at the new capital of the State.
