Bullet-proof glass sheets to the doors

Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will start working from the eighth floor of ‘L’ block in the AP Secretariat from October first week.

The renovations to get ready the Chief Minister’s office are in full swing. Chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao said they were expecting the Chief Minister’s office to be ready by Dasara.

Senior officials in the roads and nuildings department said all works are being taken up in tune with security aspects of Mr Naidu. Bullet-proof glass sheets to the doors, windows and ventilators as recommended by the intelligence and security wing are being put in place as the eighth floor of ‘L’ block building in the Secretariat is visible from the neighbouring high rise buildings.

The AP government is spending over Rs 10 crore for bulletproofing and providing state-of-the-art security blanket cover to be thrown around AP CM’s office and building.

During a series of inspections of ‘L’ block and surrounding areas, the intelligence wing officers felt that the residential, commercial and religious buildings located at a higher level than ‘L’ block may pose a threat from a security point of view. High-end electronic surveillance will be put in place.

An emergency exit gate between the L and K block would also be opened.
