Karthik Gowda told to appear before probe officer in rape case
Bangalore, Karnataka: A day after recording the statement of actor-model Mythriya Gowda who has accused Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda's son, Karthik Gowda, of rape and cheating, the RT Nagar police on Friday issued a notice to Karthik Gowda asking him to appear before the investigating officer for questioning within 24 hours.
After waiting for the complainant, Mythriya Gowda, for the entire day on Wednesday, the police recorded her statement on the night of the same day and then went to her house in RT Nagar the next day to complete the recording. The cops also reportedly obtained evidence to corroborate her claims. The recording of the statement on Thursday started at about 12 noon and went on until 12 in the night.
Continuing with the investigations, the police went to the house of Mr Sadananda Gowda in Sanjay Nagar on Friday and found that no family member was present. The police served the summons for Karthik on the employees of the house asking them to inform their employer about the notice. City Police Commissioner, M.N. Reddi said the police are investigating as per the law and the accused had been summoned. "We will take necessary action and even arrest him if necessary” he added.
Meanwhile, Karthik Gowda filed an anticipatory bail application before the city civil and sessions court through his advocate on Saturday. Admitting the application, the court has called for objections from the prosecution and issued notice to the police before adjourning the next hearing to September 4.
Mythriya Gowda who gave her statement and submitted the evidence about the alleged rape and cheating to the police initially, appeared before the 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and gave her statement before the magistrate. Sources said she fainted outside the court and was taken to hospital.
Mr Sadananda Gowda while talking to media persons on Saturday, said that with the investigations underway and he being a representative of the people, he will not comment on the case as it would influence the investigation.
The minister also clarified that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor BJP president Amit Shah had sought details from him about the episode.
