Amy Gumenick to play Cupid in 'Arrow'
Los Angeles: TV series 'Arrow' has hired 'Supernatural' star Amy Gumenick to play the DC Comics villain Cupid.
Cupid has been portrayed in the comics as an ex-special operations soldier, whose strength and emotions were both manipulated in an experiment-gone-wrong, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Gumenick's version of the character will develop an obsessive love for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), and thus try to win his affections at all costs. The villain was created by 'Arrow' executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who said that he has long wanted to introduce Cupid into the CW show.
"When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last," Kreisberg said. "Cupid has since appeared in the DC Nation shorts on Cartoon Network, and to have her fight our TV Arrow is so much more than I ever could have hoped for the character."
Season three will also include a guest appearance from Nolan Funk as Felicity Smoak's former flame, while Matt Ward will play DC villain Komodo. It has also been confirmed that Rila Fukushima will take over the role of Katana from Devon Aoki.
