‘Dad’s the biggest weapon’ says Rohan Sippy
Mumbai: Director Rohan Sippy, in a candid conversation talks about his father Ramesh Sippy and sheds light on his future plans and if he will ever make a sequel to Bluffmaster.
Have you thought of making a sequel to Bluffmaster?
Of course we have. But the person who should actually think about it is Shridhar Raghavan who wrote the story and screenplay of the original. I feel it should happen in the right manner and not just for the sake of it. Nothing is impossible and I will not rule it out.
Your father Ramesh Sippy is gearing up to return to direction with Shimla Mirchi. Your thoughts?
It’s a fun romcom with Hema Malini, Rajkummar Rao and Rakul Preet. It’s a new genre for him and it’s a really nice script. The music too has shaped up very well.
How much is he involved today with the production house?
He is the biggest weapon of our company and we are waiting for him to fire. Even though he hasn’t directed in a long time, he has been involved in my films. He watches more films than I do. It’s a perfect life for him.
When does your next film, adapted from Samir Basu’s novel Turbulence, start?
Samir is doing the screenplay and we are working on the canvas. Hopefully, after the first draft, we will start pitching the project to actors.
