I was popular, consistent and versatile: Sophie Choudry

Mumbai: Sophie Choudry is the latest contestant to be ousted from celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. One of the strongest contenders on the show, the actress admits she didn’t see it coming. “Yes, I am absolutely shocked. Not just me, whoever has heard about it, is shocked. I honestly think that I have been one of the most consistent, versatile and popular performers on the show this season. I never came in the bottom three slot either. If you look at the Colors website, the audience support for me is overwhelming as well. I don’t know how I ended up in the face-off with Akshat in the last episode. I gave it my all,” admits Sophie.

The actress also says that the time she had on the show was very memorable but parts of it were painful quite literally so. “I have said ‘no’ to the show for the past three seasons because of the injuries I’ve had. I’ve already had two slipped discs in the past and I knew that this show is dangerous, but I decided to take up the challenge and push myself. I don’t believe in living in fear because life is too short for that. The worst injury was when the background dancer forgot to catch me and I fell flat on my spine. I didn’t want to dramatise it on TV but I was in pain for days together after that incident, surviving on painkillers and injections. It could have been worse, so I’m grateful that I didn’t break anything or dislocate anything while on the show,” she adds.

We ask Sophie who she thinks will make it to the top three slot of the show this season. “The top three slot was obvious from the very start of the season Ashish Sharma, Shakti Mohan and Mouni Roy. It was always a question as to who would take the fourth spot and my guess is that it will be a television artiste. To be honest, no one deserves to win the show more than the kids (Akshat Singh and his partner) because they have been the most consistent performers on the show since the very first episode.”

And what is next in store for the actress? “It’s the end of one journey but the beginning of a beautiful new one. More films, more songs and above all I’m thrilled to be getting back on stage for all my live shows. I think this season is going to be packed.”
