Chennai: Southern Railway (SR) released the schedule of half a dozen new premium and 10 express trains besides a few passenger trains in its timetable-2014, which was released on Thursday.
According to the timetable, which was released after nearly a two-month delay, the speed of 31 trains has been scaled up. Similarly, departure of 15 trains starting from Chennai Central and six from Egmore and arrival of 31 trains at Chennai Central were revised.
Train no: 12676 (Kovai Express) starting from Coimbatore at2.20 pm would depart at 2.55 pm henceforth. Kovai express will arrive Chennai Central at the 10.25 pm, against the current 9.45 pm. Southern Railway has also advanced the departure of Bangalore-Kanyakumari Express (train no: 16526) by an hour and 40 minutes to 8 pm.
The six premium trains also includes weekly premium AC expresses from Kamakya to Chennai Central via Malda, Howrah and Vishakapatanam and Howrah to Chennai Central via Vishakapatanam, according to the new railway timetable.
