Visakhapatnam: Union minister for civil aviation P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that the governments intention is to bring banking services to the door steps of the common people. He was participating in the Jan Dhan Yojana launch programme organised by Vijaya Bank in Maharanipeta.
The minister handed over 500 accounts to the DWCRA women.
As the part of the scheme all the account holders will be provided of Rs 1 lakh accidental insurance without paying any premium.
Executive director of Andhra Bank S.K. Kalra long with the Union minister handed over the accounts to the customers with zero balance in Adivivaram. He said that as a part of Jan Dhan Yojana the bank is providing accounts in 2000 branches all over the country. State Bank of India, Nakkapally branch, also organised the program. Branch manager Jyothi handed over the accounts for 100 customers.
