Andhra Pradesh employees differ on capital
APNGOs not to pressurise government on location, seek facilities
Hyderabad:Employees working in Andhra Pradesh Secretariat are divided over the location of the capital as those from Prakasam district said Donakonda is ideally suited with large tracts of land, while their counterparts from Krishna and Guntur are strongly in favour of Vijayawada-Guntur region.
Employees who hail from Rayalaseema want the capital to be located in Kurnool or even Anantapur. Those from Visakhapatnam are batting for Vizag as the best suited place for the capital city.
However, AP Secretariat Seemandhra Employees Association president Murali Krishna said the employees cannot dictate the location of the capital to the government, but can request the rulers to keep in view their convenience while taking a decision.
“Of course everyone would like to have a capital in their home district and are coming up with pros and cons. However, the Secretariat Employees Association will sail with the decision of the state government. Obviously, the Chief Minister is not going to build capital in a jungle. We are confident that the capital would be located where all facilities are available and that once employees shift to the capital city, they have facilities that are similar to Hyderabad,” he said.
APNGOs general secretary Mr Chandrasekhar Reddy said the capital city should be set only at a place where large tracts of land is available and there is scope for expansion of the city in future. While admitting that everyone is demanding the capital to be set up in their home town or near it, he said the APNGOs will take a call on the issue in its executive committee meeting on Sunday to be held in Kurnool.
