Bypolls, Supreme Court verdict give some hope to opposition
New Delhi: The bypoll results in Bihar, the Supreme Court’s observations on important issues and infighting in the BJP-led NDA are positive developments for a demoralised and divided Opposition against the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections.
If political realignment in Bihar may lead to consolidation of anti-BJP parties in other states, the Supreme Court observations on the issue of LoP in the Lok Sabha and against induction of persons facing criminal and corruption charges into the council of ministers, and reports about the alleged misconduct of Rajnath Singh’s son could bring the Opposition parties closer inside and outside Parliament.
Opposition leaders predict that factional fights in the BJP will increase. A Congress official on Wednesday said he was surprised that the MHA was in the dark about the “rumours” that Mr Singh’s son had been ticked off by the PM for alleged “misconduct”.
