AP irrigation minister said that major repairs for barrage will be taken up after this years Kharif season

Hyderabad: AP irrigation minister D. Umamaheswara Rao on Wednesday said that five of Prakasam Barrage’s crest gates will be repaired on a war-footing, while other repairs will be completed in September, after cultivation of crops is completed.
“We have rushed experts from the dam safety cell to assess the safety of the barrage,” said the minister adding that all the major repairs for barrage will be taken up after the Kharif season 2014. Meanwhile, experts who inspected the crest gates No. 4 to No. 12 on Wednesday expressed concern over lack of maintenance of the gates and called for immediate repair works.
