Telangana Rashtra Samithi blames Congress, TD for power crisis
Hyderabad: Blaming the Congress and Telugu Desam for the present power crisis in Telangana state, the TRS on Tuesday criticised Telugu Desam leaders for targeting Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The party accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of playing a double game of extending a hand of friendship to Mr Rao, while asking party leaders to criticise the TRS government. “We told pre election rallies that Telangana will have 4,000 MW deficit power and Andhra Pradesh is power surplus. Mr Rao made it clear it will take at least three years to overcome the deficit. Is not Telugu Desam and Congress responsible for the present power mess in Telangana,” Karne Prabhakar, TRS MLC asked.
Hitting out at Telugu Desam leaders L. Ramana and others for their criticism of the TRS and Mr Rao in Mahbubnagar and other places, Mr Prabhakar said that the previous Andhra rulers in both the TD and the Congress governments ignored Telangana, especially on the power front. “While coal is available in Ramagundam, the former governments set up power generating stations in Vijayawada and Kadapa. Why? These only show the utter contempt for Telangana,” he added.
Stating that the Telugu Desam leaders were resorting to crocodile tears for farmers, he reminded that the same Mr Chandrababu Naidu called agriculture a waste and ignored the sector, which led to suicides by hundreds of farmers. “Telugu Desam’s gimmicks will not work anymore here,” he said.
People of Telangana have immense faith in the leadership of Mr Rao and they will not be carried away by the false Goebbels like propaganda by the TD leaders in Telangana,” he said. Mr Prabhakar said Telugu Desam and Congress rulers could have given a thrust to solar, hydro, wind and other non conventional energy, besides taking steps to establish new plants in coal rich areas.
“Why did they not take up Shankerpally, Ramagundam, and Bhupalapally power projects? Telugu Desam leaders’ criticism is like the devil reading the scriptures. Why were TD leaders silent, when Mr Naidu cancelled PPAs and hurt Telangana? Did not Mr Naidu use brutal police force and ordered firing against people agitating against hike in power tariff?” he asked.
