Hyderabad: The Congress on Tuesday night finalised former minister Suneetha Laxma Reddy as the party’s candidate for the Medak Lok Sabha bypoll. PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah said the AICC had finalised Ms Suneetha Laxma Reddy name and had conveyed the same to the state unit. Ms Suneetha Laxma Reddy is a non controversial leader and has been chosen to take on TRS candidate Kotha Prabhakara Reddy in the September 13 byelection. She will file her nomination at noon on Wednesday.
Mr Lakshmaiah said that for the first time, the entire Telangana Congress and its leaders would campaign. “There is no question of leaving the field to TRS this time, we are waging a do or die battle for Medak,” he added. "This is going to be unprecedented; in all the 765 villages in 30 mandals under the Medak Lok Sabha segment, two to three party leaders will be campaigning; we will mobilise all party MLAs, MLCs, former ministers, contested candidates, local body chiefs, DCCs and PCCs in their respective villages for campaigning. There is no question of leaving the field to TRS this time, we are waging a do or die battle for Medak,” he added.
