Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Medical counselling from August.30
Hyderabad: Counselling for admissions into medical colleges will begin on August 30 and continue till September 5 in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. NTR University of Health Sciences issued the schedule for the medical counselling on Tuesday after the AP government issued orders on the fee structure. Counselling for special categories like Army, NCC and physically disabled will be conducted on September 7 and 8.
The AP government issued orders on Tuesday continuing with the fee structure for A, B (merit quota), C1 (management quota) and C2 (NRI quota) categories of MBBS and BDS seats in the current year in private medical colleges, as was followed in the previous academic year. This applies to both minority and non-minority private medical colleges.
Those who get admission under category A shall pay Rs 60,000 per year and category B students shall pay Rs 2.4 lakh per year. For the C1 category, a selection committee shall be constituted with the dean or principal or director as chairman and a senior faculty member and a member from the management committee of the college.
The college shall prepare a final merit list of all the candidates on the basis of the individual’s performance in the qualifying examination, which shall carry 85 per cent weightage, and marks obtained by the candidate in the interview, which shall carry 15 per cent weightage, to assess the aptitude towards the course.
