Hyderabad: Sections of the market are witnessing a green movement as green entrepreneurship (dealing in green raw materials) is on the rise. The use of green raw materials has turned out to be a big business. The green movement has changed the furniture manufacturing industry. The demand for artificial wood furniture is so high that most of the furniture available today is made of compressed artificial wood. Artificial wood is made out of straw rice husk, sugarcane and paddy leftovers, which are compressed into wood. It does not have any forest component.
Green buildings use Auto Clay Concrete bricks instead of conventional ones. They are made of 30 per cent fly ash and 70 per cent cement and air which ensure good insulation. “The green movement has given a boost to many similar business enterprises. Use of VUC paints (which have no oxidised compounds) has become a movement now and even big brands are manufacturing these,” said Prem C. Jain, IGBC chairman.
