Andhra Pradesh Non Gazetted Officers society allowed to use bank account

High Court judge permitted the Society to operate the account through demand drafts and cheques

Hyderabad: Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday ordered for defreezing of the bank account of the APNGOs Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society, imposing certain conditions. Justice Ramamohana Rao was dealing with a plea by the Society, challenging freezing of its bank account by police based on a complaint by the District Cooperative Officer.

After considering the plea of the Society that it has been facing hardships in meeting its day-to-day expenses due to freezing of its bank account, the judge permitted the Society to operate the account through demand drafts and cheques. The judge directed that Society shall not withdraw money from the bank account; make payment of income tax arrears only by procuring a crossed account payee demand draft, payment of salaries and wages to the staff and other employees through crossed account payee cheques, no fixed deposit receipts should be encashed or encumbered in any manner.
