Rabhasa release in trouble as maker fails to pay rent

Producer owes '58L to Lakshmi Manchu’s firm

Hyderabad: Rabhasa, a film starring NTR Jr, is in trouble again. The film was supposed to be released on August 15, but had been pushed back to August 29. Sources close to the production house now say that the film’s release is once again in doubt. Producer Bellamkonda Suresh still owes '58 lakh to Manchu Entertainment Ltd, owned by Manchu Lakshmi.

“The shooting of Rabhasa was held at Gandharvamahal, owned by Manchu Lakshmi, for many days. Producer Bellamkonda Suresh had promised to pay the rent once the shooting was complete. However, the film is complete and is ready to hit the screen, but the producer hasn’t yet paid the rent,” says a source from Manchu Entertainment Ltd. After trying unsuccessfully to contact the producer for the past few weeks for the payment, representatives of Manchu Entertain-ment reached Bellamkonda Suresh’s house on Tuesday evening and asked for the money.

According to latest reports, an argument was going on at the producer’s house between Suresh and the other party. It is learnt that Manchu Lakshmi has also lodged an official complaint with the AP Film Chamber of Commerce and Telugu Film Producers Council regarding the payment issue. “He is saying that he doesn’t have money, but his son’s second film is going to be launched on Wednesday morning. He gave advances to the director and others for his son’s film, but he has no money for us,” said a source at Manchu Entertainment.
