Sheila Dikshit resigns as Kerala governor
The former Delhi chief minister was appointed for the post about five months ago
New Delhi: Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit tendered her resignation on Tuesday.
The former Delhi chief minister was appointed as the Kerala Governor about five months ago by the UPA-II government.
She had met President Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan had put in his papers, , protesting his transfer to Mizoram. Five UPA-appointed Governors have already resigned after being nudged by the NDA government.
Dikshit, who served as Delhi Chief Minister from 1998 to 2013, was appointed Kerala governor in March just before the model code of conduct came into force for the Lok Sabha polls.
