SHRC’s name taken in vain

SHRC directed the police to file a report

Hyderabad: The Telangana Nyayavadula Sangam (TNS), an association of lawyers, has lodged a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission against anti-social elements who pose as SHRC members and threaten government officials and police officers regarding certain cases.

Hearing the petition, SHRC directed the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police to file a report on the issue by September 30.

Telangana Nyayavadula Sangam President Pritam Pradeep Kumar said, “Some people are running NGOs under the name National Human Rights Commission and are settling cases. They also carry fake ID cards showing themselves as members of the Human Rights Commission.”

Further, when the government officials and police officials intervene on complaints, they threaten them saying the case is being dealt by the Human Rights Commission.”
