Mystic Mantra: The mirror to your soul
The eyes are the most overworked part of human body today. The electronic media has turned us all into perpetual spectators. This excessive use of eyes puts a lot of strain on these delicate instruments. There is always something to look at which the mind tries to understand and interpret. We think we are entertained but it creates mental fatigue. We have forgotten how to look simply for the joy of looking.
There is often tension and stress in our eyes due to our wrong approach. If your eyes are tense it means that the whole body is tense. When you begin to understand how intimately your vision is connected to your body, mind and emotions, you’ll realise that the state of your eyesight is a reflection of your inner health. The eyes do not exist in isolation, they are an integral part of your total being.
Start observing how your moods affect the quality of your vision. Have you noticed that you see a little better when you’re feeling energised or relaxed? And your vision creates obstacles when you are emotionally distressed or physically weak? Osho has suggested some meditation techniques to help rejuvenate the eyes, relieve them of stress. This will also reduce your dependence on medicines.
Osho calls it an unfocused vision. Focused vision means only left side of your brain is stimulated whereas with the unfocused or peripheral vision the right hemisphere is stimulated. It is a holistic way of looking.
