Ban on toll collection postponed to Monday

Administration to verifiy claims of National Highway Authority of india about filling pothholes
Kochi: The district administration has postponed a decision to impose ban on toll collection at Kumbalam toll plaza to Monday. The administration has decided to complete verification of the claims made by National Highway Authority of India that it had made substantial headway in filling up potholes on NH-17.
Collector MG Rajamanikam had served a notice to NHAI to submit a report within a week on steps taken to fill the potholes in NH-17 on August 14. The collector said he would impose a ban on toll collection in case of failure by NHAI in undertaking repair works within a week. The district administration had informed on Friday that it would take a decision on NHAI stating that repair work was progressing. The decision was postponed to Monday in view of the heavy rains in and around Ernakulam for the past two days.
