AIS men on the warpath over division of employees in AP and Telangana
Officers are upset on why the allotment process was started with AP
Hyderabad: Allotment of All India Service Officers (AIS) to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by the Prathyush Sinha committee on Friday has not gone down well with several IAS and IPS officers.
Officers associations have decided to register objections against the allotment process and seek changes in the final allotment that is expected to be announced by September 2. The committee has given 10 days time to lodge objections, if any, before finalising the list. While the committee considered “options” given by some officers, it was denied to others fuelling resentment.
Officers had doubts on why the allotment process was started with AP while it had to start with Telangana as per draw of lots held last week. Officials are upset at the disclosure of “sealed cover options” given by them to work for AP or Telangana. They questioned the rationale behind seeking ‘sealed cover options’, when their ‘confidentiality’ was not protected.
Several officers feel that making their personal options public will be embarrassing for them and may also create problems in future while working for the government which they had not opted for.
Those who got allotted to their preferred state are a happier lot, but those who could not are feeling embarrassed and expressing ire at the committee for making their preferred options public.
IPS officer K. Durga Prasad, who opted for AP was allotted to Telangana. Similarly, A.R.Anuradha, intelligence IG of AP, was allotted to Telangana while her husband N.V.Surendra Babu, a senior IPS officer, opted for Telangana, but was given AP cadre.
Senior IAS officer and TTD EO Mr M.G. Gopal, has opted for AP, but was given Telangana. GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar opted for Telangana, but was allotted to AP. Both M.G. Gopal and Somesh Kumar are worried about losing their high profile posts if their option is not considered during final allotment.
IPS officers M.M. Bhagwat, Vijay Kumar, Rajesh Kumar and R. Jayalakshmi opted for Telangana, but were allocated to AP. IAS officer Y.Srilakshmi, facing CBI case on OMC mining case, opted for AP, but allotted to Telangana.
