Businessman held for molestation
Hyderabad: A Mumbai-based businessman was arrested for allegedly molesting a house keeping staffer of Novotel at Shams-habad on Saturday.
The 48-year-old man, Mukesh Pachauri, who came to Hyderabad for business purpose, allegedly groped the woman and tried to rape her when she came to his room to supply a towel on Friday midnight. Police found that Pachauri was drunk at the time of the incident. The 23-year-old woman raised an alarm, escaped from his clutches and filed a complaint.
RGI Airport police said that Pachauri called up the reception after 11 pm on Friday and asked for a towel and bathing soap.
“The woman was sent to his room to give what he asked for. When she came, he asked her to drop them in his bathroom. As she entered the room, he caught her hands and started misbehaving,” said inspector T. Sudhakar.
Mr Pachauri, who was drunk, tried to overpower the victim to rape her. However, she escaped from the room and reported the matter to the hotel management. RGI police came to the hotel after the management informed them.
The police took a written complaint from the victim and booked a case against the accused for outraging the woman’s modesty.
Police produced Mr Pachauri before court, and sent him to judicial remand.
Cops said that Mr Pachauri had checked into the hotel two days ago and was living alone.
He told the police that he came to Hyderabad in connection with his business.
