HTC One M8 Windows is cheaper?
The HTC has launched a Windows phone after a really long time (more than two years). The HTC One M8 has been launched with Windows Phone 8.1 and retails for almost $599.99 (approx Rs 37,000), exclusively on Verizon.
The HTC One M8 features a Snapdragon 801 chipset with four processors bussing at 2.3GHz and a 5-inch full HD display. The internal storage is 32GB and the rear camera is a dual HTC UltraPixel with a BSI sensor, while the front camera is a 5MP. The handset weighs 160g and is 9.35mm thick. The operating system is Windows Phone 8.1. Additional features include LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi ac and IR.
Since the HTC One M8 Android and Windows version phones have identical hardware, it should ideally be selling at the same cost as that of the Android variant. The HTC One M8 Android sells for Rs 43,800 at present.
Is Microsoft financing HTC? Or is it that the hardware is now cheaper than before and hence the lower cost? Maybe it is that HTC does not have to spend on any software development for Windows Phone like how they do for Android.
