Poor health care facilities at PHCs ails North Andhra
This year around 1,500 malaria cases have been recorded
Visakhapatnam: Dearth of proper health care centres in North Andhra districts, especially in the rural pockets, has resulted in many deaths. Outbreak of epidem-ics, makes it even worse. Despite spraying insecticides and distributing mosquito net malaria cases have not come down.
This year around 1,500 malaria cases have been recorded in Vizianagaram and 3,500 in Visakhapatnam. Doctors working in rural areas, get preferences for PG courses and hence leave on bagging a PG seat in medical colleges. This leads to regular vacancies in primary health centres.
Around 22 medical officer’s posts are vacant in rural PHCs in Vizianagaram district.
