Chandana Brothers theft case solved, five arrested
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police has solved the Kukatpally Chandana Brothers theft case, and has arrested a gang of five including three receivers for the crime. The cops recovered about 450 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 5.24 lakh, in all worth Rs 17.7 lakh from them.
The arrested men are Katta Shiva Shankar alias Laddu, 26, a resident of Old Alwal and a native of Rayavaram of East Godavari district, Katta Sathi Babu, 24, a resident of Domalguda and a native of Kakinada. The receivers are Sorampudi Satyanarayana, Katta Laxmi and Chellaboina Varalaxmi.
Police said that Shiva Shankar is an ex-convict and was involved in thefts in Hyderabad and other districts. He was earlier arrested and remanded too. Satti Babu who is Shiva’s cousin is his associate. They managed to escape from the police in May 2014 in Kakinada while returning from court. They stay in separate rooms in the city and meet frequently to hatch plots. Police said they used to purchase SIM cards without producing ID to evade the cops and used to survey shopping malls and showrooms posing as customers. After that they target the shops and break in using tools like screw driver, hammer, crow bar, etc.
Madhapur DCP Kanthi Rana Tata said in the Chandana Brothers case they entered the mall using tools. Police said they turned to theft to lead lavish lives.
