Chennai: August 22 is a crucial day for Bharath. The young actor who started his career a decade ago with Shankar’s film, Boys, has come a long way, hitting his significant 25th film with Aindhaam Thalaimurai Siddha Vaidhya Sigamani which is hitting the cinema halls today. Touted to be a laugh riot, Bharath who has experimented with varied roles shares his exciting moments with DC.
On choosing a comedy genre for his special films, Bharath says, “Comedy is trending in Tamil cinema and when Ravichandran narrated me the script, it completely pulled me in. The story is simple, yet interesting, and my character was awesome.”
He is known for going in for a change of look for his roles if this was called for, like deciding to acquire a six pack for Aindhu Aindhu Aindhu. ATSVS did not demand a change in appearance, he says. “I play the fifth generation in a family of Siddha practitioners with no formal academic background. The film doesn’t define itself as a comedy genre, but holds a special message on the significance of Siddha medicine and how education is important for.everyone. People have misconceptions about Siddha vaidhyam. Here Ravichandran has dealt with it with utmost positivity and good humour.”
Praising co-star Nandita, Bharath says, “She essays an educated girl and she has a solid role to perform. She has a natural flair for comedy.”
Bharath has shared screen space with 22 comedy artistes. “Initially, the story had Thambi Ramaiah and Karuna for the main comic roles. Eventually all the big comedians joined in at different stages of filming for various cameos and the project became huge. We all worked like we were one family.”
Bharath’s dancing prowess is well known. “I am passionate about dancing and use it as a tool to keep fit. My strength is my dance and Shankar sir cast me in Boys after seeing me perform on stage. I keep updating myself with the latest trends in dance with each movie.”
His debut Bollywood film, Jackpot with the hot Sunny Leone, received mixed response. The actor says that he is considering yet another Hindi script now.
