Everyone was expecting Bioware to announce their new IP at Gamescom, but what they revealed was probably the last thing on our mind. The developers behind Dragon Age and the legendary, Mass Effect, series announced their new project only on PC, Shadow Realms; a unique online action adventure game that pits four players against one opponent, similar to the formula in Evolve and Fable legends — but considering this is a Bioware game we can expect it to be set inside a brand new, immersive world.
The game is said to have its roots in old school Dungeons and Dragons; so we will have the party of four heroes going up against an enemy known as the Shadowlord. Players will get to play as one of six classes or as the Shadowlord. The new game is set to deliver episodic content, which will build upon the storyline. In the developer diary, they said the idea was for the game to “play out over time like a great TV series, providing players the ability to experience story-driven adventures as a community”.
Though it may seem exactly like Fable Legends on the surface, I feel the availability of six classes coupled with Bioware’s solid track record with Action RPGs there is no doubt that this game will be rock solid. You can currently sign up for the closed Alpha on the Shadow Realms website.
