PS4 unveils Indie wishlist

Media Molecule revealed Tearaway Unfolded, an expanded version of the PS Vita title

This year at Gamescom, Sony started their press conference by announcing that the PlayStation 4 has sold over 10 million units. Unlike E3, the rest of the conference was centered on showing a variety of new games. This combination of indies and retail titles included The Tomorrow Children by the developers of PixelJunk Shooter, Volume by Mike Bithell, Hellblade by Ninja Theory and many more. DayZ was also confirmed for the PlayStation 4.

Previously announced as a teen horror game for the PS3, Sony re-revealed Until Dawn for the PS4. In the game, players control eight characters and the story heavily revolves around choice.

There are many branching paths and endings, including situations where all eight characters can survive and all eight can die.

Media Molecule came on stage to reveal Tearaway Unfolded, an expanded version of the PS Vita title. It will include 50 per cent more content than the original, and will utilise the DualShock 4 in unique ways. The developers of Resogun announced a twin stick shooter called Alienation, and Michel Ancel revealed WILD, an open-world game where you can take control of any living creature on the planet. A large number of games shown were being published by Sony Computer Entertainment and hence, will be exclusive to the PS 4.

The press conference also included new trailers for previously announced titles, an indie montage as well as new information on third party games like Destiny, Far Cry 4 and MGS V. The PlayStation 4 OS 2.0 will include the ability to directly upload videos to Youtube, as well as Share Play; a feature which allows your friends to stream the game to their console if they don’t own the game. Sony confirmed that Share Play can be used unlimited number of times, although in hourly sessions. But the service will require an extremely fast internet connection... which, if you read the piece above, will keep it out of reach for Indian gamers.
