Telangana survey: One lakh houses on Hyderabad outskirts not covered
GHMC received 7,000 complaint calls on Tuesday where the survey was not done
Hyderabad: As many as 1.49 lakh households in Greater Hyderabad jurisdiction are still to be covered in the Intensive Household Survey. Most of these houses are in the old city and the peripheral areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
On Wednesday, a redressal mop-up was done for the houses that had been left out. The GHMC claimed that as on Wednesday, 19.71 lakh houses had been covered while 60,606 locked-door houses were reported.
Around 1,500 enumerators from the GHMC and the revenue department visited the that were not covered on Tuesday and conducted the survey on Wednesday. Those who had complained to the help line, zonal offices and over SMS were covered.
The GHMC received 7,000 complaint calls on Tuesday though the survey had gone on till 1 am in areas like Kondapur, Serilingampally, Gachibowli and Uppal.
Afraid of missing out in the survey, several families pressed the enumerators to complete the process till late hours, while in many areas, the enumerators promised citizens that they would be covered the next day.
On Wednesday, a group of senior citizens approached the Khairatabad zonal office complaining that many small colonies were not part of the GHMC’s database. In Asifnagar, Golconda and Tolichowki, while the team visited a few houses in the lanes, the by-lanes were not covered. In Goshamahal, the citizens themselves filled the forms at a function hall to help out the enumerators.
Mirza Akbar Baig, resident of Muradnagar, Mehdipatnam, said, “Only the first pre-survey was done, nobody came to collect the check-slip the next day or for the survey on Tuesday; 300 houses have still not been enumerated on Wednesday as either. The helpline is always busy. when we called the zonal commissioner he told us that we are not authorised to call him and no one was available at the GHMC office on August 20.
It is estimated that 1,49,308 houses are still left to be covered. The commissioner said these houses would be taken up shortly after the Telangana state government decides the dates.
